Argentine Tango is a social dance which is fully improvised. There is no choreography to learn but instead is led and followed, based on walking. As we say, if you can walk you can tango.
The dance was the product of European migration into the river plate area of Buenos Aires and Montevideo over one hundred years ago. A dense concentration of people in the port cities allowed a cross-cultural exchange to blend popular continental dance styles at the time including polka and waltz, with the rhythms of indigenous people and those of African slaves.
Like all dance forms with a long history, Argentine Tango has evolved over the years, and been influenced by political and economic forces, fashion, tango composers and orchestras, dancers, performers, and teachers and its own diaspora.
Today, there are social tango dancing communities on most continents, and in every capital city in Australia. Tango in Australia is heavily influenced by and follow social codes and styles present in Buenos Aires, but with an Australian twist.

Beginneers @ 6pm - 7pm
Intermediates @ 7pm - 8pm (Not running until Term 2)
A FREE Practice Session may be run after the classes but confirmed by Sarah.

Private Lessons by Sarah
One hour Argentine Tango Private Lessons are charge at $70 per hour and are arranged by appointment only.

* The 5 class package is set to motivate your full attendance for the 5 consecutive weeks of which an individual has enrolled. Any absence due to sickness or other arrangement is not the responsibility of Albury-Wodonga Dance Centre. Any classes missed cannot be made up in any other 5 weeks. The package fee is non-refundable.
